About

BridgeToWork Academy is a workplace readiness and professional development academy serving students, graduates, and professionals across Africa.

Our story

Bridging education and employment.

BridgeToWork Academy was founded by Ama Afram Boakye-Lartey, a Ghanaian professional and consultant with over 20 years of experience spanning business development, consulting, programme implementation, private-sector development and institutional engagement. Having worked across corporate, consulting, development and industry environments, Ama saw a recurring gap: talented young people often leave university with academic knowledge and qualifications, but without the practical workplace skills needed to confidently navigate their first professional opportunities.

BridgeToWork was born from that observation and a simple belief: being qualified is only the beginning. Graduates need to know how to communicate professionally, write an effective email, schedule and participate in meetings, work with colleagues remotely, prepare reports, use everyday workplace technology, build a strong professional profile and conduct themselves with confidence in a professional environment. The Academy transforms these often-unspoken workplace expectations into practical, learnable skills that students and early-career professionals can immediately apply during internships, national service, graduate programmes, interviews, first jobs and professional networking.

BridgeToWork Academy is intentionally practical and interactive. Learners don't just watch videos — they practise, participate, complete real-world assignments and build the confidence to move from campus to career and, ultimately, from career to leadership.

Founder, BridgeToWork Academy

Meet Ama.

Ama Afram Boakye-Lartey is a Ghanaian professional, consultant and programme development specialist with more than 20 years of experience across the corporate, consulting, private-sector development and international development sectors. Her career has taken her from banking and business development to consulting, strategic programme implementation and industry development, giving her first-hand insight into what employers expect from professionals beyond academic qualifications.

Throughout her career, Ama has worked with businesses, government institutions, development partners, industry stakeholders and professionals across different sectors. Her work has involved developing and managing programmes, coordinating diverse stakeholders, preparing technical reports and strategic documents, facilitating professional engagements, and supporting initiatives that have trained more than 1,000 beneficiaries and contributed to the creation of over 500 sustainable jobs.

It was through these experiences that Ama became increasingly aware of the gap between what people learn in the classroom and what they are expected to do in the workplace. She saw bright graduates and young professionals struggle not because they lacked intelligence or ambition, but because no one had taught them the practical rules of professional life — how to communicate with a manager, contribute confidently in meetings, write a professional email, manage workplace relationships, present themselves online or navigate their first professional opportunity. BridgeToWork Academy was created to change that.

Ama's vision is to make workplace readiness more accessible, practical and relevant to young people across Africa. With a BSc in Administration from the University of Ghana Business School and an LL.B. from Mountcrest University College, combined with professional development in project management, strategic planning, organisational development, corporate governance and executive leadership, she brings both academic grounding and extensive real-world experience to the Academy. Her mission is simple: to help every learner move from campus to career with greater confidence, competence and clarity — and to keep developing the skills needed to progress from career to leadership.
